At only 7 years old, Eseniia Mikheeva walked onto the America’s Got Talent stage with a huge smile and enough confidence to immediately catch the judges’ attention.
At first, it was easy to focus on how adorable she was.
But Eseniia hadn’t come to AGT simply to charm the judges with her personality.
She came to dance.
And once the music started, the tiny contestant showed that she had far more than a few cute moves prepared.
Within moments, Eseniia was throwing herself into an energetic hip-hop routine filled with personality, tricks and facial expressions that made it almost impossible not to watch her.
The Judges Were Already Smiling Before She Started
Eseniia seemed comfortable talking with the judges despite standing on one of television’s biggest talent-show stages.
Sofia Vergara was immediately taken by the young dancer’s personality.
There was an innocence to the conversation that made Eseniia instantly likable.
But then the music began.
Suddenly, the sweet little girl speaking into the microphone transformed into a confident performer.
The change happened almost instantly.
Her Facial Expressions Became Part of the Dance
Eseniia wasn’t simply moving through choreography.
She performed every section with her entire face.

Then another burst of attitude as she hit the next movement.

Then Came the Tricks
The routine continued building.
Eseniia showed off her flexibility and added gymnastic elements to her dancing.
She delivered a backflip, dropped into the splits, and continued moving with the same energy she had shown from the beginning.
For someone only seven years old, the confidence was remarkable.
There was no sign that the huge audience, bright lights or celebrity judges were intimidating her.
Instead, Eseniia appeared to be having fun.
And that made the audience enjoy the performance along with her.
Sofia Called Her a “Mini-Mini Star”
When the music stopped, the judges had plenty to say.
Sofia Vergara told Eseniia that she already looked like a “mini-mini star” and said she was happy the young dancer had come to America’s Got Talent.
Howie Mandel was also impressed, calling her amazing while speaking with Eseniia’s parents backstage.
But even after the dance ended, Eseniia’s audition wasn’t finished entertaining everyone.
Even Her Stuffed Dog Joined the Moment
While talking with Eseniia’s parents, Howie noticed that they were holding a stuffed animal.
That led Eseniia to retrieve her toy and bring it onto the stage.
The stuffed dog’s name was Linda.
It was another small moment that perfectly matched the rest of the audition.
Eseniia could perform like a tiny professional dancer one minute and then immediately return to being an excited seven-year-old with her favorite stuffed toy.
That contrast made her even more memorable.
Simon Could Barely Speak — Literally
There was also an unusual situation with Simon Cowell.
Simon had lost his voice during this round of auditions, so he attempted to whisper his comments to Sofia Vergara and have her repeat them to Eseniia.
It didn’t exactly go smoothly.
Sofia struggled to understand what Simon was whispering, creating a funny back-and-forth between the judges.
At one point, they tried to work out whether Simon was saying that Eseniia was “in it to win it.”
Even Simon seemed amused by how difficult the translation had become.
It turned what should have been simple judging comments into another entertaining part of the audition.
Four Judges Said Yes
Eventually, there was only one thing left to decide.
Would Eseniia move forward?
That answer was easy.
Four judges. Four yes votes.
The seven-year-old dancer was officially through to the next stage of the competition.
Her journey would eventually take her all the way to the Season 18 semifinals, where she returned with another energetic dance performance.
But her first audition remains especially fun because it showed so many sides of her personality in just a few minutes.
She was adorable.
She was funny.
She was fearless.
And when the music started, she could absolutely perform.
More Than Just a Talented Kid
There are plenty of young dancers who can memorize difficult choreography.
What made Eseniia stand out was how much personality she put into every movement.
Her facial expressions made the choreography more entertaining.
Her tricks gave the audience moments to cheer for.
And her confidence made the stage seem much smaller than it really was.
At seven years old, Eseniia didn’t simply dance in front of the judges.
